This audio production serves as a fine introduction to the popular British author's classic novels about the six imaginative, irrepressible Bastable children. Flo Gibson gives her usual polished performance. Although her mature voice at first seems inappropriate for the young children, she gives each Bastable a distinct voice which captures his/her personality so successfully that the listener is soon immersed in the children's high adventures. The pacing is lively, and Gibson handles the little explanatory asides of the child narrator with aplomb. It's all good fun--and good listening--and should lead listeners to seek out Nesbit's other stories about the Bastable children: The Story of the Treasure Seekers and The Wouldbegoods. C.R.A.
