When learning Spanish, it is extremely important to learn the words, but after that, you must learn to put them together. Someone who knows lots of Spanish vocabulary words will still have far less luck communicating than someone who knows key Spanish phrases. Spanish phrases are words strung together and spoken as they would be by a native Spanish speaker. For example, a English speaker might say "Mi nombre es Jane," which is technically correct, but someone who knew Spanish phrases would say "Me llamo Jane," which is more fluid and flowing.
